Digital Advertising Australia - Mastering the Call to Action.

Digital Advertising in Australia means nothing if you do not know how you can use your Call to Actions or (CTA's), because a Call to action may be the easiest way for you to establish a lead. It can make or break relying on how weak or strong your CTA is, so I would like to give you a few tips to make sure that you are doing the best you can to grow your brand and create those all-important leads.

Wording

Really easy, stay clear from generic words that are going to make you seem desperate or like you are pushing for a sale. For example, selecting between the words, 'buy' and 'shop' as a CTA, one might believe that they each mean the same thing. But you have to understand that lots of people online have the tendency to avoid commitment, and so subconsciously even there is a propensity for the general public to think that the word 'buy' is locking them into something, whereas 'shop' is a way for them to discover more relevant information. The issue I am trying to make is that you really must consider the wording and avoid words that have unexpected outcomes.

Shape and Colour

It may seem weird, but Shape and colour of your CTA can affect its effectiveness. In the world of Digital Advertising there have been a number of reports into the notion of design and its affect upon a person's perception, and essentially one idea claims that curves are the most reliable way to go. So, if you want to try and optimise even more, think about making the button for your call to action curved, rather than a square.

Now, colour, this is a different area that there are a few theories on. Some people would have you think that green is wonderful because it means 'go', but to stay away from red because it is 'stop', or that blue is calming so it may make people more relaxed ... In the end there really isn't any clear evidence to suggest one option over every other, so just choose what works best for your style. One thing that I will discuss though is that you should be aware of the font size and colour-- If you want your digital advertising to be most efficient in the Local area, it is a good idea to try and keep it different from the rest of your content, but don't go too crazy.

Location

Where your call to action is set is quite vital to digital advertising growth.

All that I suggest by this is make sure that you don't have it tucked away in a corner somewhere, or that you have way too much text that is complicating the Call to action.

In the long run it all comes down to finding out the combination that works for you, remember your wording, shape, colour, size and placement of your brand's Call To Action, and when you bring all the components together just think practical and think about your consumer.
